Gumroad – Xgen Hair for Characters

Gumroad – Xgen Hair for Characters

Recently I decided to learn Xgen for Maya because I wanted to give my character some convincing hair.
I found it strange that there was very few quality tutorials out there explaining a solid process of doing this.
I learnt as much as I could from the tutorials available and self taught the rest.
I thought this would be a great opportunity to share what I had learnt.
In this tutorial you will receive over 4 hours of content which describes my process of generating hair without the use of scripts or expressions.
This includes generating scalps to grow the hairs from and the process of applying and grooming hair for all regions of the head and face, including:
– head
– eyebrows
– eyelashes
– beard
– peach fuzz
In the final chapter I then show you how to use arnold to build convincing hair shaders and render them for the desired result.
The software used in this tutorial consists of Zbrush, Maya 2017 and Arnold for rendering.
If you want a quick preview of what can be seen in the tutorial hit the link below and it will show you my intro video:

Lynda – V-Ray Control Color Bleed in 3ds Max

80avbumm
Duration 1h 12m Project Files Included MP4
Color bleed is a common problem in global illumination (GI) renders, as colors are transferred by means of indirect light reflection. By understanding how light works in the real world, and using 3ds Max and V-Ray to mimic that behavior virtually, you can prevent most color bleed problems. Join Brian Bradley as he demonstrates the causes of—and solutions for—the color bleed that occurs in V-Ray GI renders. Learn how to control color bleed in a physically accurate manner (as you could on a real-world set), and by using GI-specific tools along with other nonphysical controls such as Materials Overrides and the V-Ray Object Properties dialog.

Lynda – DaVinci Resolve Guru: Color Correcting Log, Raw, and Flat Footage

iydbtorm

Duration 1h 34m Project Files Included MP4
In this installment of DaVinci Resolve Guru,
explore the concepts of log and raw footage.
Colorist Patrick Inhofer underscores the disparity between the two recording methods
and shows you how to tell the difference when using DaVinci Resolve.
This course also shows you how to set your raw settings for a project and individually,
shot by shot. Explore the concept of color correcting flat footage shot on a DSLR and how that differs from shooting log and raw.
Once you’re familiar with the differences between log, raw, and flat recordings,
explore two different methods for color correcting that footage.
First, Patrick shows you how to color correct manually, using the traditional tools in DaVinci Resolve.
Then, he explains how to use lookup tables (LUT), and discusses LUT strengths and limitations.

Lynda – 3ds Max Hard Surface Modeling Basics

isjvaodm
Duration 2h 38m Project Files Included MP4
Hard surface modeling is all about designing man-made objects: machines, vehicles, tools, weapons, and so on.
Because the edges and angles are distinct and the surfaces are typically smooth,
there are many opportunities to use 3ds Max’s built-in tools to make your modeling process more efficient.
3ds Max: Hard Surface Modeling Basics helps you learn the tools and techniques to model a high-poly mesh—in this case,
an old deep sea diving helmet and shoulder guard—as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The assets you produce as a result of this course can be used in games, product visualizations, and more.
Join Joel Bradley as he shows how to set up your environment for maximum
efficiency and use a variety of techniques to execute the final design,
including spline modeling, welding, component modeling, extruding from primitive objects, cutting, and box modeling.
Plus, learn how to use the power and flexibility of the modifier stack to refine your hard surface models.

Lynda – 3ds Max: Advanced Lighting

gwnfbnum

Duration 2h 52m Project Files Included MP4
Realistic lighting is easier, faster, and better than ever in 3ds Max.
Photometric lighting and a choice of rendering options gives you the power to create a convincing illusion.
This course focuses on architectural visualization,
but the techniques apply to other applications such as motion picture production.
Author Aaron F. Ross provides a conceptual overview of advanced lighting and rendering,
then demonstrates how to construct various lighting scenarios in 3ds Max.
He shows how to render scenes with exterior and interior daylight, practical artificial lighting, and manufacturer photometric data.
The course includes a chapter on special effects such as light exclusion and lens effects.
By the end of the course, you’ll have seen how to control the powerful lighting tools in 3ds Max to achieve photorealistic results.

Lynda – Premiere Pro Guru: Markers

dr1mbd4m

Duration 1h 1m Project Files Included MP4
Markers are an essential part of workflows for many editors.
Having a firm grasp of how they work in Adobe Premiere Pro can help you use the program more effectively. Y
ou can use markers to help you remember steps still to be done,
or to communicate with other editors sharing the project.
You can also use markers to create web links,
DVD chapter stops, or even to edit your clips to music.
In this course, Luisa Winters explains why markers are important to the editing process,
and goes into the different types of markers you can access in Premiere Pro and how to use them.
